Summertime
ACT (Australian Capital Territory), Victoria, NSW
(New South Wales) and SA (South Australia) have the same summertime from
the last Sunday of October to the last Sunday of March. The summertime in
Tasmania starts the first Sunday of October and ends the last Sunday of
March. Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia do not follow
the summertime and remain respectively in Eastern, Central and Western
Time.
Climate
Australia is between the temperate zone and tropical
zone. Most of the continent has clear sky and not much rain. The
temperatures are particularly high during the southern summer
(December/February). In the middle of the summer (January), the
temperature is 29° degrees (northern zone), 17° degrees (southern zone)
and in July it varies between 25° degrees (north) and 8° degrees (south).
The coldest zones are the mountains, the tableland of Tasmania island and
the eastern part. The hottest month, almost everywhere, is January. From
October to November there is the risk of cyclones in the north of Western
Australia. The rains are more plentiful during January and February in the
north of the country. The driest months are July and August, especially in
the central and southern zones.
